Auctions for Lab Equipment, Part 3
Developing a Transportation Vendor Relationship
After purchasing used lab equipment at auction, you, as the buyer, are responsible for the removal and transportation of the purchased equipment. Often times, labs and firms will purchase equipment from out of state and are faced with the task of finding reliable, safe transportation home for their investment. Due to the sensitive nature of these machines, the slightest bump, jolt, or shake can set off alignments and potentially render the equipment unusable.
At this point in the transaction, you need to make sure you hire a reputable, responsible transporter. Your transporter is your eyes and ears on the ground – especially if you’re purchasing equipment from a location far away from your home base. Establishing strong relationships with transportation vendors is key. Once you are comfortable and confident in your transportation vendor, you can extend your purchasing radius, allowing you to save more money and diversify your inventory in the process.
The Lab World Group will be hosting its first ever auction June 5-7. Find out more information and register for the auction here.
