First person infected with Ebola in the U.S dies
While in Liberia, Thomas Eric Duncan contracted the disease and fell ill four days after traveling to Dallas. He was being reated with an experimental drug called brincidofovir at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. He died October 8 at 7:51 a.m. Contacts that were close to Thomas are being monitored for signs of Ebola. Symptoms appear as soon as six days or as long as 21 days after having direct contact with direct body fluids from an infected person.
