Prosthetic Skin Created
Smart Prosthetic skin has been created by Scientists, and is warm like real skin. It is filled with tiny sensors that can pick up many environmental cues like heat, pressure and moisture. Developing this further could transmit sensory information to the brains of amputees. This would give prosthetic limbs feeling. Scientists have also created 3D printed prosthetic arms, artificial limbs that can be controlled by the person’s nerves or brain. The prosthetic skin is self-healing or 1,000 times more sensitive than human skin. Problems with this is include the person not being able to sense if something is dangerously hot, or whether if they’re going to drop something because the grip is soft. Smart prosthetics with many sensors are fragile and easy to fracture and they don’t have the flexibility of actual limbs. The prosthetic skin have been designed to act as both the stretchability and high-resolution sensory that human skin has.
