Protein could cause eating disorders
Eating disorders could come in effect when a chain of interactions in the body, due to a certain protein made by gut bacteria. The body makes antibodies to bind to the protein when it is produced, but they also connect to a hormone that controls fullness. In experiments, mice that have been given the bacteria that produce the protein change how much they ate compared to mice that were given bacteria that did not produce the protein. Researchers also discovered that the antibodies to the protein were higher in patients with anorexia and bulimia.
