VIA Freeze Quad Controlled Rate Freezer
The VIA Freeze Quad is a Linux-based operating system with an integrated SATA hard drive and operated by a central large touch screen. Users will find the UI touchscreen interface quite easy to operate or also allows the use of a keyboard and mouse as well as a web-based software.
Liquid nitrogen and its containers can sometimes pose as a source of potential contamination in the lab. This fact limits which instruments can be used in a clean room. By eliminating the use of LN2 (liquid nitrogen) this lineup of GE VIA freeze-controlled rate freezers can be used in clean rooms. In addition, this ability reduces the costs associated with using LN2, deliveries, and storage and increases user safety.
The controlled rate freezer is powered by an electric Stirling cryocooling engine and cools by conduction. This method of cooling allows samples to cool more uniformly over their LN2 counterpart. The verified temperature range is -80C however with the right conditions the GE VIA freeze-controlled rate freezers can drop down to -100C. These temperatures are reached evenly and at a controlled rate by freeze profiles programmed into the UI. These programmed profiles can be programmed directly from the touch screen or by a web-based software platform. In addition, web-based software can be used to remotely access the linked freezers and thaw records.
The VIA Freeze Quad chamber can support up to 4 sample plates. A wide range of sample plates to choose from support the needs of most cryo bag and vial types. Some plates quickly release magnetic to enable fast installment and removal, decreasing time from low exposure temperatures and throughput.
The Freeze quad is liquid nitrogen-free controlled rate freeze that reaches temperatures as low at -100C. It does this by electronic controls and a conduction cooling method. This is a system similar to liquid nitrogen containers however provides many benefits over its counterpart.
